Anastasius I, 491-518. Solidus (Gold, 21 mm, 4.50 g, 7 h), Constantinopolis, 491-498. D N ANASTA-SIVS P P AVG Pearl-diademed, helmeted and cuirassed bust of Anastasius I facing, his head turned slightly to right, holding spear in his right hand and with a shield, decorated with a horseman spearing a fallen foe, over his left shoulder. Rev. VICTORI-A AVGGG A / CONOB Victory standing front, head to left, holding long voided cross in her right hand; in field to right, star. DOC 3a. MIB 4a. SB 3. Lustrous and sharp. Graffito on the obverse, otherwise, good extremely fine.
